Registering for 2026-2027
KINDERGARTEN
The Abbotsford School District is proud to offer a wide range of educational options for all types of learners. In addition to excellent neighbourhood schools, we offer District Programs that include French Immersion, Integrated Arts, and Traditional Schools. Acceptance to these programs is based on a lottery registration process.
Families must register their Kindergarten child at their neighbourhood catchment school before applying for District Programs. A lottery process is used every January/February to determine the registration priority order. Entries can be made at any time during the five days. Late entries are not accepted, and only one entry per child is allowed. Seats will be assigned in late February on a proportional basis by catchment area via a random selection process. Students with an older sibling in the program will be given priority placement over new applicants.
Lottery for the District Kindergarten Programs will open at 8:00 am on Monday, January 26th and close at 4:00 pm on Friday, January 30th.
*The link to the lottery will be posted on the District website on Monday, January 26th.
Children not accepted due to space restrictions may go on a waitlist and should plan to attend their catchment school. If families have not heard by mid-March, please contact the school Principal of your neighbourhood catchment school, and they will help you find out about your child’s status.
GRADES 1-5
At South Poplar, the registration link above goes live online on January 26th at 8am for those interested in grades 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. You just click the link, provide us some basic information, and we can contact you when a space becomes available. It's as easy as that!
After January 26th @ 8am, click here to add your name to our waitlist for the upcoming school year.
The link is date and time-stamped which means we can see the order in which applications come in! Unlike the Kindergarten lottery which is random, Grade 1-5 applications are processed in the order we receive them.
All spots are given to families as space becomes available using District priority rules. Priority is given to siblings of current students (to keep families together) and then all other students in the District on a first-come first-served basis.
If you are interested in a grade that is full, we will place your child on our waitlist and contact you as soon as a spot becomes available.
If you are experiencing trouble or have any questions, please contact our office and we can help.
